The not-so-cute image to your left has been spammed all over MySpace via comments for months now. It’s generally posted from legit accounts that have been phished. And, it’s hyperlinked to a php file that prompts a person to download a payload of evilness when clicked. My buddy PaperGhost has dissected this toad three times now. Why three times? Asshats like to change up the payloads of poo they’re spreading from time to time. Zango and all sorts of other craptastic (technical term for “Evil Evil Bad Bad”) stuff has been bundled in this download every time. As an added bonus, it has a neat little thing built into it to phish your MySpace account info so it can spam itself from your account.
Bottom line: When you see it, you should “Run, Forrest! Runnnn!”.

ProfileWatcher: The Saga Continues
Random tidbit:
The Department of Defense started blocking access to a ton of social networking sites and whatnot. So, our boys and girls over in that dreaded sandbox can no longer visit MySpace, YouTube, etc… They claim that this is being done due to bandwidth (money) and network security issues. That’s obviously a big load of BS. Sean from SocialHam.com summed it up pretty well.
Safe guards are important to protect our troops however its pretty clear they are also concerned about stopping the next Abu Grab picture/video leak

Protect our troops? Yeah, that’s the big one in my eyes. The DoD would have been shunned as assholes if they stated the obvious though… Yes, it’s inevitable that one of our troops would have pulled a retarded Geraldo Rivera move on YouTube or elsewhere.
“Hey Mom, we’re going raid that little village over there tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!1″
I told you so:
Really, I did. From a recent post of mine on MySpace:
Will there still be spam on here?
Yup. You can expect a lot more spam profiles and messages with the whole “You’re Cute!!! My MSN and AIM name is WebCamDoubleDD, hit me up sum time”. So, you can all have more hot sex talk with bots about monkeys.
Well… Here’s a partial screenshot from my MySpace inbox:

My inbox has been getting flooded with that crap lately. All of the messages are similar to the below sample:
HEY! nice MS page.. just came across it so I’m saying hi.. I’m Par!s :) I just moved so I’m tryin to meet some new friends! My contact info is below so add me on your messenger!!

When contacted via IM, the fembots entice e-tards into signing up for an adult webcam site. It’s the same old hustle that has been going down on MySpace for over a year now.
Why are they pushing you to contact them via MSN Messenger instead of AIM?
The IM bot programs used for AIM need to be updated at the moment to catch up to recent changes to AIM. In the past, their AIM screen names would appear to be offline but would auto login if you messaged them. And, that isn’t working at the moment.
Who’s responsible for all the current adult webcam spam?
After a two minute investigation, I came to the conclusion that it’s the same fucktards from a year back. You can expect a full write-up about this from me fairly soon.
The Spam King is still LOLing all the way to the bank:
When MySpace made their big splashy announcement about filing suit against Scott Richter I pooh-poohed it with what I considered to be obvious…
Based on [MySpace’s] track record of unrelenting incompetence and boneheaded moves, I find it unlikely that they’re really ready for this war.
Well, it appears that Scott feels the exact same way. There’s still tons of spam being posted all over MySpace that’s pumping traffic through his CPAEmpire affiliate network.
Speaking of Paper Tigers:
A while back when I was mocking one of MySpace Tom’s goofy announcements, I said…
Like that time when the New York State attorney general’s office spanked a 7.5 million dollar fine out of our asses for a little spyware scheme we had going on. We laughed our asses off at that one! We made some major dough on that hustle, so we just chalked up that 7.5 million as a “business†expense.
That sentiment has been the elephant taking a dump in the room for a long time now. On the very rare occasion that spammers, adware asshats, and other douche nozzles get caught smuggling cookies from the jar… They only get fined a few crumbs.
“If the fine does not really hurt, then the message sent is that the FTC is a paper tiger and that crime pays.”
