This account has been deleted / restored three times over nonsense. Kevin from Pointless Banter went through the same BS once. And, my future ex-wife friend Alyssa currently has the record with somewhere around 10 trillion deletions / resurrections. Countless others have been deleted and had to start over with new accounts or just say “Screw you guys, I’m outta here”.

It was just some typical script kiddie / troll attacks really. This stuff is VERY common on MySpace. Scat porn overlays, message floods, and all sorts of other lameness.
David Taylor; who’s a “senior information security specialist” for the University of Pennsylvania, is so fed up with the lackluster security measures in place in the Groups section that he dedicated an entire Blogger account to bitching about it. After a couple posts he came to realize what all my readers already know: MySpace isn’t big on patching up their gaping security holes. So, he posted a blog entry urging parents to simply stop [their] kids from visiting Myspace for now. Not long after that, one of his MySpace accounts got shit-canned.
Yes, I know how that looks you bunch of fucking conspiracy theorist. No, I don’t think his profile got the axe by anyone at MySpace who actually matters. My overly MySpace educated opinion says…
1. A rank-and-file douche read that blog entry and deleted his profile. This is likely what happened based on the evidence David offered up. Since I’ve already pretty much proved* that they don’t have a spot to add notes to accounts / deleted accounts, it’s not a stretch to assume that employee’s delete-happy activities aren’t automatically logged either.
* How in the hell do I get restored one night and then deleted again the next day? They obviously don’t have a cell in their database for employees to put notes into in relation to accounts. - Me Bitching
2. The script kiddies / trolls screwing with that group did the old send-in-mass-false-reports-until-the-right-idiot-reads-one routine.
3. Tom was in the middle of snorting blow off of a stripper’s tit when he had; what at the moment, was an awesome idea. “Dudes, let’s delete everyone on MySpace named David and see if they notice the pattern!!!”. David Taylor was the only David unlucky enough to get his profile shit-canned before Tom came to his senses and started deleting everyone named Alex.
Why do I think it was something along those lines? You can (and I have) said a million nasty things about MySpace. I’ve always found them to be fair though. You’ve just got to get a hold of someone over there that isn’t retarded or new to the interweb. I imagine his profile will get restored if it isn’t already flushed from their database.

Lately, emails sent over to abuse@myspace.com have actually been getting answered / acted on. As mentioned above, the crew over there has proven to be easily manipulated with extremely basic social engineering tactics. Aren’t they training these clowns properly?!?!?

I just read your posting after my account has been deleted today for no reason at all. Check this out, I never once sent spam of any kind, I don’t have any nude photos on my site, and I do not violate a single one of their policies. The only thing I can see being a myspace problem is the fact that a lot of my art and photography contained pentagrams. This is about freedom of speech, what the hell?
I have been getting some mail from mad parents and christians, the only thing I can think of is one of them sent myspace a complain about my stuff. Myspace is lame, but I still hope i get my profile back if that is possible because it had all my friends on it.
I think myspace really needs to losen up because most people are getting fed up with it big time. I am sooo very glad that some guy in the mid west is sueing them for account deletion and violating his free speech and expression.
In my opnion, I see myspace going down, it won’t happen instantly… but the way things are going, and the way myspace has been ascting towards people, FaceBook is the next big thing.
To be honest with you my myspace account has much porn on it, music players, promotes a call girl service, and was phished from a 13 year old ballet dance in south Queens named Marie Calderón de la Barca, and my account has never been deleted. Go fuckin figure!
Just read your article involving the deletion of myspace accounts and their inability to monitor who is deleting the accounts without explanation.
It’s a fantastic idea especially for bands but their idea of a level playing field certainly goes out of the window, when any numpty can delete the accounts.
Three times we’ve have had our account for our Rock Band TOKYO ROSE deleted without any explanation and one of the times, we were in the middle of our Christmas Fund Raising for Cancer Research.
We had planned on raising £10,000 for the hospital but when the account was deleted we lost our contacts and could only raise £3000. We’ve just started our campaign again and guess what the account has been deleted.

Though a legitimate charity with over 1,200 friends, myspace deleted our account siting abuse / violation of their terms of service. Their exact words were “Thank you for reporting this profile. The profile in question has been deleted. Even it’s for a good cause, adding links to other website is not allowed”.
My myspace account was deleted today for seemingly no reason; I’m still waiting to find out why. No spam or porn from me either; but I think I might have realized the reason this evening. Last night, after 10 too many bulletins, I deleted William Shatner as my friend; so I think that is what did me in. Never delete Shatner.

I found this article after discovering that my MySpace account was deleted at least three days ago. I rarely use the thing, and only created it in the first place to keep in touch with other people who are interested in recording information on cemeteries for genealogical purposes. I can’t imagine why this happened, and although it shouldn’t be a big deal, I find it upsets me very much. I have been using their “Contact US” link every day to ask “Why” with no response. I’m a 48 year old woman, and my profile had nothing objectionable on it, unless it was a link to a Dixie Chicks song!

my fiance just discovered that his band’s myspace page, the morning riot, was deleted as well. they had 10,000 plus friends and fans. their myspace url was used as their main page on all their albums, etc. . . i emailed customer service, but after reading the comments on this page, i don’t have much hope of a reply. this sucks.
mine was deleted after it caught a virus that sent my friends messages about ringtones. i changed my password right away, but the account disappeared without warning, along with precious pictures i didn’t save anywhere else =(
I had the same thing to happen to me. I had a message that said to change my password because someone might have phished my account. I changed my password, got unblocked then next time I try to log in my page is gone. What the F*ck is myspace doing?
who can we contact at myspace to re-enable our account if we think it was deleted for the wrong reason? Earlier my account said it was phished and forced me to change the password. i did knowing that my account was never phished.

So today is my 25th birthday amy prnd as esent from myspace, i got my page deleted. I am so pissed, i had 50,000 friends and about 100,000 profile views and almost 200,000 song plays, i have dedicated so much time to myspace, and now it’s gone, on my birthday of all days :( and i got the same thing, my page at first said it was phished so i changed my password, and then shortyl after i couldn’t log in anymore, and it said that my page was deleted, i didn’t get any warning or email saying that it got deleted, so I was thinking it’s some kind of error because myspace has been acting wierd all day, I am so bumed out about the whole thing, is there something i can do??? This is weird. My band’s account got phished today also and I received the same thing saying to change my password so I did. I left out to a show to promote our gig tomorrow and came back to find that our profile was completely gone. 30,000 + friends a ton of plays etc. and lots of people we are trying to book shows with not being able to contact us and promoters not being able to go to it. What gives?
Same thing here. The phishing comment then the changed password and finally the deleted account. Something doesn’t make sense. If this is myspace pulling this crap…! Does this have anything to do with number of friends, we also had 10,000 plus?
Myspace and it’s new label along with the band Sherwood that they recently signed are taking full advantage of the site, then they go and screw the little guys?!

There’s something seriously wrong here with everyone’s comments. Same thing just happened to my band WENDIGO. Weve been on MySpace for 18months, never violated any terms, hit nearly 30,000 friends and the same amount of plays. Just beginning to crack it in NY and Asia and then we got the ‘phished’ message yesterday & today the account has been deleted without any warning. Very VERY strange. U think somethings going on they ain’t telling us?
last night before i wrote this letter i checked my myspace url and it said the account has been deleted / removed..
then i posted this message.
a few minutes after that i went to myspace.com and went to the contact page and submitted a ticket thingy.
now, the next morning, my myspace is back?

I had the exact same thing happen to my music page yesterday too, I went to login and it said your account has been phished and requested me to change my password to unblock/unlock my account and everything seem like it was back to normal. I went back a few hours to login again and it said my account had been deleted. I had over 23,000+ plus friends and 100,000+ plays, with almost 50,000 views. Does anyone know if we can get our accounts restored? I lost alot of major contacts and it will take forever to get them all back if I am even able to find them again. my profile has not been deleted as at today the 29th of July 2007. Its still running. But I cannot log in. I have 81,000views, about 55,000plays and 14,000+ friends. On the 27th of July 2007, I got a big red message from Tom that my page was Phished and that I should change my password. I changed my Password. Everything was fine. I got back a few hours later. I could not log in anymore. I tried to retrieve a fresh password. No Way! I have tried the ‘SALUTE’ thing, but no reply yet from myspace.com. This is very painful. My profile suddenly became my big Hobby, but now its gone. I still view the page in rage, but I cannot sign in. What is going on here? Is myspace.com still alive to answer to these Questions! This is frustrating.
i came across this page through someone else having issues with myspace. after reading everyone’s posts about the phishing notices… out of curiosity… did you guys click on the link given to you to change your password? or did you go to your myspace home page and change your passwords through the ‘editing’ function there?
it sounds to me like you were being phished by being fooled you HAD been phished, if that makes any sense. if they sent you a notice that you’re acc’t had been phished, with a link to sign in to myspace, it was proabably a psuedo (look a like) myspace link that enabled them to get your sign in info thru the page they directed you to. so, essentially, you gave the phishers your username and password, and some stupidf**k and thier friends had a fieled day with whoever bit and deleted those acc’ts.
not that myspace isn’t a pain in the butt.. but that’s how phishers get ppl’s sign in info. they create links that take you to replica pages of where you think you are. so, in this case, the page looked like your myspace home page, or whatever it was written to look like, and you just handed them your username and password.
since it happened to so many people the other day (that posted here), i wonder how many ppl it happened to over all… and myspace is OVERWHELMED with the emails and scrambling to figure out who the culprit is.
anyway… just a thought.
This is really unbelievable. My MySpace Film account was deleted the night of July 30th for the reason that I was claiming an age that went against their terms and services. It’s a film account, why should the age even apply, and especially to such a degree? I’ve tried to email them but it doesn’t seem like much use. People who put in so much time and effort into their page should not be experiencing this ridiculousness. If anyone learns anything new, please post!!
Like most of the recent commenters, I have a band profile that was supposedly “phished” (it wasn’t) and a few hours after changing the password as MySpace instructed, my profile was deleted (this was on July 26). I received nothing from MySpace–no notice that I was banned, no explanation (not even a general one) of why–I just tried to login and couldn’t, tried to load the profile and saw it was gone.
I don’t think it was an elaborate phishing ruse as MySpacingWhore suggests, because it seems far more sophisticated to somehow reroute the login path (after logging in from the authentic myspace.com main page) to a fake “home” page that clones yours exactly except with an added message about being phished. MySpace is a very shoddy, imperfect place, but I don’t think it’s *that* insecure. If it were, I would think this would be happening to a lot more people and there would be more of an outcry. One of the things that bugged me in trying to figure out *why* this happen was that I could mostly find out-of-date blog entries like this describing problems with MySpace profile deletions.
I got my profile back just by e-mailing MySpace, but they still didn’t send anything to explain *why* they deleted me. I removed what little “sexual” content was on the site and, while I use a bot to add friends, I’ve decided to lay low on that just in case it was the problem. I narrowed down the possibilities by reading their ToS for the first time ever, and by googling to find other bands whose profiles had been deleted and/or resurrected. That’s how I ended up here.
It seems suspicious to me that I was deleted just a few days after changing my headline–for the first time ever–to a quote that included the phrase “sexually explicit.” I can’t find the blog now, but I read about a band that was deleted for having the word “porno” in their headline; it’s not like the context is “come here for free porno,” but it gives me the impression that MySpace flags keywords and will delete your profile based on them, without even looking. I would argue the “phishing” notice is your only chance to change your sinful ways before they trash you…
…but when I found this place, it makes me wonder if it’s just a coincidence. Maybe they “accidentally” deleted a bunch of band profiles, maybe we’re the fallout from their “let’s delete all the sexual predator profiles” brouhaha. How do they find and define these predators? By searching for dirty keywords? Are they deleting extra profiles so they can inflate the numbers for the press? If MySpace gave anything resembling information to their users, we might have an answer.
All I can say for others whose profiles have been deleted unfairly–e-mail them. You probably won’t hear back, but chances are they will restore your profile (without notification–keep checking) and you have to have some idea of what they’d consider ban-worthy and remove it when they restore your profile.
Go get yourself a free webhosting account with cpanel or other control panel, enable raw logging, and load an image of anything into your profile, and a unique image into every blog post, and when you’re bored an image into comments. Watch the referer logs for

Well we’re not a band or a group, just a MYpace page for a 12 month old baby girl - Kayla Weber - with stage 4 cancer. Our page had been up a month,we had 1000 friends and 15K views. But beyond that we had 7000 postcards donated with Kayla’s MySpace URL printed on them that were sent out to the Congress and Senate members to help draw attention to a proposed bill in congress requesting more funding for Pediatric Cancers.
Then, wihtout warning, on Kayla’s FIRST birthday - August 30th, POOF - MySpace deleted her page.
100s of emails were sent - no replies.
Shame on MySpace.

Where do I report underage users?
Users must be at least 14 to join. According to the TOS, if a user is under 18 and misrepresenting their age, the account may be deleted. If you have sighted a user under 14 years of age on MySpace.com, please contact us with the URL or friend ID number and we will remove it.
If you are trying to remove your own child’s account, please work with your child to remove the account. OMG, my myspace account of 4 years has been deleted !! over 9000 friends, 8 hours of constant work every day, for this is how i network and contact all my business clients .. i got an email because they said it was copyright infringement on my page .. ?? only thing i can think of is a disneyland video of fireworks i had on there, why cant they just delete that ? or at least give me a warning !! i am lost for words, im gonna lose my job cause of this and this is the way i easily keep in contact with my child every day ..

Jesus christ I had a foot fetish page with NO nudity and they just fucking deleted it without any notification. I had this account for 3 years and had over 1,500 Females as friends. Heres the Soultuion because I refuse to make any other pages on the super touchy PC myspace. How about a bunch of us with the knowledge make an adult version of myspace call it adultspace, we post what the fuck we want, say what the fuck we want and dont have to worry about shit. Well. Kids could see it right?…….. well not if it requires a one time fee of ONE penny by using ONLY a credit card = No kid accounts.
Heck, my inbox on my account said that I had new messages this morning. I clicked on it, and it told me that my messages weren’t available at the time. I haven’t been back to check it, but I can tell you how shoddy MySpace is. I’ve gotten so many “Unexpected error” messages while I’ve been on MySpace. I’ve actually gotten those errors while TRYING TO LOG IN! MySpace sucks!
I am not a band or a group..just an individual. I was in my account on 10/16/07 and later that night..could not log in..I tried the “forgot login” and it said my email did not exist. I put the URL in my browser and it gave me the invalid friend id blurb with the possible cancelled or deleted. I emailed myspace..no response…out of 7 emails I got 4 replies. The most ignorant “I cant help you as there is no profile attached to that account”. OMG!! Are they kidding?? They could never tell me what happenned and my 670 friends, emails, comments from the last 2 yrs..all gone. So I rebuilt it entirely..same URL same email different password. Started adding back friends ..got to 195. Last night 10/31…all of a sudden I could not log in. Guess what? Exact same thing. My frickin account is missing!!!! If you try to pull up the URL it goes to that same invalid thing. However, if you do a search..you can see it used to be there and some of the content is listed. I have again email myspace yesterday but have received no response yet. I literally broke down yesterday as I had stayed up all night 3 nights in a row just trying to find all my friends stuff again. This is my only connection to some friends of mine that live out of state.
Im so upset. And no…there is no disgusting stuff on my sight ..I dont spam…and I also did not get any email from myspace ahead of time. Nor did I get anything that said I was phished. Nothing. I didnt clidk on any links to enter my password either.. I know not to do that. But it is gone..now the second time just the same. Is there any way to find all your friends stuff and add them back easier…I cant keep doing this. Alot of my friends or fitness people and they all have 100 as their age so you can even do a search for them anymore. This has just been a depressing experience. I`ve been hassling with myspace for two years now…I am on their shit-list! They always know when I try to make a new account and always know it`s me..I`ve always tried to warn ppl about myspace and it`s evil corporate ways, and Rupert Murdoch who owns it as well as Fox News.. And Murdoch is in bed with GW Bush so you may figure..Right?..I even set up a petition urging ppl to simply boycott myspace altogether…My account has been deleted so many times I cannot even remember..They also delete me when I try to post a classified ad..Yea, no doubt about it, it`s the rank and file employees over there with too much authority and time on their hands who are doing it! But it`s all with Murdoch`s approval..If there was a decent alternative to myspace I would surely use it, but unfortunately myspace has little competition..I will be glad to see it gone and “down the tubes” forever..We don`t need this kind of censorship and corporate monopoly on our free internet..Free so far, that is..But it`s myspace`s goal to make it un-free, believe it or not..Just search the facts for yourself…

My account got shitcanned yesterday. Waiting for a reply as to why (doesn’t seem forthcoming) or a restoration. I need to make a backup of my entire account from now on. I was using it for business networking and I can’t just rebuild all my contacts from memory.
